14-Weeks-Old

My parents and grandparents just visited us for a few days, and Kayden was such a wonderful host! He never showed the least bit of fear with these additional four people in the house, and rather got accustomed to the ample supply of warm laps provided for him daily. Each time we came home from our daily sight-seeing, Kayden galloped down the stairs to meet us, mewing happily. After their visit was over, Kayden discovered the spare mattress we'd set up for my parents and claimed it for himself. Now, whenever we can't find him, we assume he's there - occasionally under the covers.

We are delighted that he is so social, but that also means that we should be all the more fearful of ever letting him outside. If he's this curious and friendly with us, he could end up being friendly with the wrong type of person (or animal). For now he is extremely happy being an indoor cat, and because our apartment has plenty of space for him to run around (he even has his own play room!) we are leaning toward keeping him as an indoor cat for a good long time, and maybe forever. We would never forgive ourselves if he found himself in the middle of Alder Street someday, making friends with the cars. Maybe someday, when we get a house of our own, we could re-introduce him to that great outdoors, which he probably remembers fondly from his first ten weeks of life.
